Director Baz Luhrmann's 3D adaptation of The Great Gatsby enjoyed a jazzy debut at the box office this weekend, opening with $51.1 million that, alas, still wasn't strong enough to topple the juggernaut that is Iron Man 3 from the top spot.
Iron Man 3 soared away with $72.5 million, having grossed $284.9 million domestically to date. Meanwhile, the new Tyler Perry-produced comedy Peeples flopped in its debut with $4.9 million.
