Eternal Darkness Spiritual Successor Shadow of the Eternals Headed to Wii U, PC

Update: Precursor Games has now launched the crowdfunding for Shadow of the Eternals on its official site. IGN also released nine minutes of gameplay footage today along with commentary from chief creative officer Denis Dyack, which you can check out below:

The first details about Eternal Darkness spiritual successor Shadow of the Eternals have been revealed. While some outdated details about the game and its crowdfunding campaign leaked online earlier today, IGN has confirmed with Precursor Games that some of that information was inaccurate.

After speaking with Precursor, IGN can confirm that Shadow of the Eternals will be told via 12 episodes and is headed to Wii U and PC initially. The crowdfunding campaign (which launches on Monday, May 6th) is seeking $1,500,000 and will include a variety of stretch goals.

According to Precursor, "our primary goal for Shadow of the Eternals is to raise 1.5M dollars. Any money raised beyond this will contribute to stretch goals that go beyond the first episode, including future episodes, additional characters, additional platforms and in-game perks. The more money that we raise, the more we can deliver, which is a win for everyone."

IGN can also confirm the following plot description provided by Precursor:

When Detective Paul Becker is called to one of the bloodiest gang massacres in Louisiana state history, only two survivors remain from a brutal conflict between two rival cults. As Becker begins his interrogations of the suspects, their combined recollections will uncover the truth about the ‘Eternals’.

Featuring an ensemble cast of heroes and villains, Shadow of the Eternals will span over 2500 years of history throughout Egypt, England, Hungary, and the United States. Players will question the perception of reality as they try to balance the mechanics of combat, magick, and sanity events to progress through the adventure.

Shadow of the Eternals will take players on a memorable journey throughout time; weaving historical fact with disturbing fiction to create an experience unlike any other.

"We are overwhelmed by the level of interest for Shadow of the Eternals," a Precursor representative told us. "It did surprise us that some inaccurate information was leaked. However, we cannot wait for the official unveil on Monday with complete and accurate details through IGN and our website."

Be sure to check IGN next week, when we’ll debut the first gameplay footage from Shadow of the Eternals, plus an interview with chief creative officer Denis Dyack. Until then, check out the teaser for Shadow of the Eternals released earlier today:
