Tough on your phone? Samsung hears you cry. According to a recent Wall Street Journal report, the company is planning to release a ruggedized version of the Galaxy S4 tentatively called the Galaxy S4 Active. Though a specific launch date has not been announced, it’s believed that the device will be released sometime this summer, perhaps in July.
The President of Samsung Gulf Electronics, Young Soo Kim confirmed the existence of the Galaxy S4 Active at the S4’s launch in Dubai earlier this week. He was tightlipped about specifics but according to t-break, he did mention that the phone would be waterproof and dustproof.
Samsung's new flagship phone, the (moderately durable) Galaxy S4, is set to formally launch in a few days, with pre-orders for certain carriers ready to ship and others still revving up for release. You can find IGN’s guide to US carrier and retail availability here, but if you’re in the market for a more durable option, it might be worth holding out just a few months longer for the Galaxy S4 Active.
